Our First Game
I'm happy to moderate our forum's first Mafia game, but before I can do that we need to actually figure out who will play. I'm expecting we'll only be able to get enough people to support a game with 7 or 9 players, and although I'm not opposed at all to larger games I also think that a small start is probably better for the newer players. I should also lay out a few ground rules. Why explain rules here, and not in the other thread meant for rules? Because these rules pertaining to this particular game's setup, and future games (fingers crossed!) might not use these same rules.
So for starters, this game will use an open setup. That means that it will be public knowledge what roles are in the game and how many there are, although of course you still won't know who has what role. I'll figure out the particular set up later, but it will be something simple. Secondly, I'm going to run the game with majority lynch, meaning that a lynch occurs as soon as more than half the living players have their vote on the same person (IE four out of seven, five out of nine, etc). Third, day periods will last for a few days of IRL time, in order to give all of us with our busy schedules time to discuss and interrogate each other. How does a week sound? Remember, if a consensus is reached before the time limit, the lynch happens and the day phase ends. Night phases don't need to be as long, IMO, so I'm going to stick a two day time limit on them. On a related note, the game will also use compulsory lynching, which means a lynch MUST happen each day. You can abstain from voting, but you can't vote for no lynch to happen and if the time limit for the day phase is hit without a majority being reached, a plurality lynch (the lynching of whomever has the most votes) is held instead. Next, no roleclaiming... That doesn't mean you can't say what your role is (or what you want people to think your role is). It means you can't do something like post a screenshot of the role PM I sent you to PROVE that your role is what you claim it to be. Lastly, in order for your vote to count, you MUST phrase it as, "Vote to lynch: [name]". Otherwise, your vote is NOT official. I'd prefer that you bold the phrase as well to make it stick out more, but the only requirement is that you use the proper phrase so there is no misunderstanding of whether you're voting or not and votes can be easily searched for.

Re: Our First Game
Well, that makes 7. Should we start now, or hold out for 9?

Re: Our First Game
Okay, we have enough players now so I will begin work on getting the game finalized, sending out role PMs, and such as that shortly.
