Mafia 2: Cage Match
"He's dead! Oh God, Nicolas Cage is dead!" Nicolas Cage screamed, his face contorting with overpowering rage. The corpse of Nicolas Cage laid in a nearby pool of blood. Nicolas Cage cradled his head in his hands. "They killed him, the bastards! I saw it with my own eyes! It was Nicolas Cage, Nicolas Cage, and Nicolas Cage!" Nicolas Cage pointed wildly at the assembled crowd of Nicolas Cages. Nicolas Cage raised his hand.
"Yeah, you're going to have to be more specific."

Cage Match Mafia is a closed-setup game, and as such, very little information is going to be revealed in this post. In the interest of fairness, I will spoil the fairly obvious fact that there are exactly 3 Mafiosos present in this game, they can speak with each other during the day, and the slightly less obvious fact that there are only two factions, the Town and the Mafia. All of these features will probably be common to all of my games, minus the size of the scum team, which is obviously more variable.
Standard Mafia rules apply here. The day phase will last for seven days of IRL time, enough for the Ring tape to work its magic. Night phases will last an absolute maximum of two days, but I strongly encourage everyone to get their actions submitted as quickly as possible in order to keep things moving at a good clip.
The lynch occurs when greater than half of the living players are voting for a single player. There will be no mandatory lynches in this game. When the deadline hits, the player with the most votes on them will be lynched. However, in the event of a tie, no lynch will occur. Also note that No Lynch is a viable option. So in this hypothetical scenario:
3 Votes for No Lynch, 2 Votes for Hans Gruber, 2 Votes for Jaffa Calling
No Lynch is the option selected. Please vote in the following format- Vote to Lynch:[player].
Three things are forbidden in this game. The first is screenshotting, copy-pasting, or otherwise proving what your role PM says, although spouting unconfirmed nonsense is both acceptable and encouraged. The second is post editing. The third is discussing the game with living players, outside of the context of this forum. If both of you are dead, no problem, just be certain you won't be overheard by any living players. Follow these rules, and you'll be alright.
Currently sending out role PMs. Please post in this thread confirming that you have received it.

In the words of the great yu-gi moto of the island of Barbados. "In the ninja world those who abandon their duty are scum, but those who butter their dogs before shipping them out to Amazon are worse than those muscles for lyfe janitors on a Thursday night after sweaty yoga" and thus I conclude that my role has been confirmed.

In my infinite patience and wisdom, I have extended the deadline to next Wednesday at midnight. That being said, I demand an explosion of funposting to make up for this delay.

I find two people rather suspicious. Like9Orphans post sounds too goofy. He's trying hard. Either way I don't trust him.
On the other hand, PurpleRam seems questionable. What do you love so much about your role, guy? It could easily be a flounder statement and he could be vanilla townie but if that were the case, why stir the pot this early when you have no viable role?

First, SHE was amused at what the role is and how it was phrased. And second, it's fun. I look forward to playing my part in this investigation of the death of a fellow Cage.

Have you read the first game, that post is pretty in line with all the rest of his posts, scummy as hell, but nothing out of the ordinary for him, so I'm not suspicious of him yet.
And we have all gotten our own cage roles I'm assuming, even the vanilla townies, she just said she loved the character she was given for the game, so that isn't suspicious at all. You are reaching a bit here on both of these.
Personally, I don't have any strong leads for the game, so I'll start the voting off with a friendly, "What the hell, you were the last person to pick your avatar and you picked the same character for your avatar as someone else" Vote to Lynch: Alkerice

Re: Mafia 2: Cage Match
Like9Orphans did make a goofy post, and that's because Like9Orphans is a goof. There's not much to read into anything anyone has said so far. Other than PurpleRam, but I think she just likes Nicolas Cage. I know that she's definitely easily excitable.
The first day of a new game is certainly challenging. No information, just guessing and wild accusations. One thing I learned from my first game is that apparently being a novice and being scum look very similar, so that is going to add to the challenge. The rules are slightly different though, as lynching is not mandatory this time. Part of me thinks that not lynching anyone on day one might be a good idea, as a mislynch is pretty likely. On the other hand, if we just sit back and let the day expire then the Mafia gets a free kill without us having learned anything. So the wild accusations are probably necessary in order to get information flowing. So with that in mind...

This guy was the most absent in the first game, and took the longest to confirm in this one. If he is in the Mafia or has a night action then I just know I'll end up waiting the full 48 hours for night phases to end.

Re: Mafia 2: Cage Match
My first instinct is to say "no lynching," just because we don't have much info...
But then, we are all Nick Cage. And Nick Cage doesn't half-ass anything.
So by the will of Cage, I cast aside my inferior judgment and say "Vote to Lynch: Green Machine."
Solely because they committed the sin of catching my attention.

Re: Mafia 2: Cage Match
Arc, you may be on to something here. There are plenty of Cage pictures online. I picked my favorite moment from my favorite Cage movie, and someone picked almost the exact same one. Being a copycat looks fairly suspicious in my book. It could be that he's just a novice, but I still don't like it.

Re: Mafia 2: Cage Match
Wanting to not lynch on day one is common among new players in my experience, but you are right that doing so usually means the Mafia gets a free kill and the town learns nothing. Even accidentally lynching a townie D1 gives useful information, since you can review their posts on D2 knowing that they were townie.
For the sake of trying to promote some discussion, then, I'd like to ask everybody to tell what role they would most like to have gotten in this game. Now, it's a closed set-up, sure, but not knowing whether there is a cop doesn't mean nobody could have wanted to be a cop so don'tcop out skip out on answering the question because of that.
Since it would be shameful and irresponsible for me to asking a question like that without answering, I'll answer first. I would prefer to be a vanilla townie, because I haven't played Mafia in quite a while and I feel a vanilla townie is the best way to shake off. It's getting back to the basics, the fundamentals, with no fancy night actions or abilities other than the most important one all townies have: a vote. Not to mention, I prefer playing as town in the first place because it's more fun than playing scum, IMO.
Also, just throwing this out, but I'm currently (as in, as we speak) running a game session so if I seem silent, that's why. Then again, I've already posted more than some others, so perhaps the defense is unnecessary at this point...

Apparently I can't spell, and you have a name that's hard to spell anyway. I think you know what I meant, but I'll amend it with a correct spelling.

Re: Mafia 2: Cage Match
@Arc, hmm a reasonable answer but I still am wary of you. @PurpleRam, forgive me for not knowing you are a woman. There are a lot of Nicholas Cages' in the mix here. That aside, if what Arc says is true then I'm gonna let it slide. But you aren't out of the woods yet. @TotallyNotSuspicious, I have a Nicholas Cage Avatar. I'm not sure what the big deal is here. You out of everyone feels that we should lynch someone. This is ogrewhelming evidence that you don't want to miss an opportunity to kill and I have to agree with you, bucko. Waiting around for the scums first move is too defensive and I happen to believe we shouldn't sit around either.
Vote To Lynch: Raptor-Senpai
He was less than helpful in the last game and is one of the last to confirm his role (again). His efforts won't be missed and we may not even hear from him to gather enough evidence against him. Sitting around waiting for the moster who murdered Nicholas Cage to make another move isn't doing Mr. Cage justice. He would've wanted to get the killer as soon as possible.
